Wall Murals & Printed Wall Graphics in Colorado Springs
Full-wall printed graphics for offices, stores, gyms, clinics, and schools, printed on films made for walls and installed so the seams line up and the colors match your brand.
Wall murals in Colorado Springs are large printed graphics applied to interior walls with wall films designed for painted drywall, covering a full wall or a feature area with photography, illustration, patterns, or a company story. APG: Advanced Printing and Graphics designs, prints, and installs wall murals for offices, retail stores, gyms, clinics, restaurants, and schools across Colorado Springs and El Paso County. Most single-wall murals take one to two weeks from approved estimate and deposit and usually install in a day. Removable films suit leased spaces; permanent films suit owned spaces and high-traffic walls. Two things decide how a mural turns out: image resolution at full size and the condition of the wall.
A blank wall is the largest piece of brand space most businesses already own and never use.
A printed wall mural turns a plain wall into something people remember: a panoramic photo of Pikes Peak in a lobby, a timeline of the company in a hallway, a bold pattern in a gym, or product photography in a store. Done well, it looks painted on. Done poorly, it shows seams, bubbles, and photos blown up past their limits.
This page explains how printed walls work, what makes artwork print sharply at mural size, which films to use on which walls, and how installation is planned around outlets, doors, and furniture. For the rest of the interior, including lobby logos and glass, see our office branding page.

Where printed wall murals work best
Wall murals earn their cost where people spend time looking at the wall. These are the spaces we cover most often:
- Lobbies and reception areas. A feature wall behind or beside the lobby sign. See our lobby signs page for the logo itself.
- Hallways and corridors. Company timelines, values, or photography that turn a long blank hall into something worth walking past.
- Retail and showrooms. Product and lifestyle photography behind displays, swapped when the season or product line changes.
- Gyms and studios. Bold graphics and motivational lines that hold up to sweat, equipment, and cleaning.
- Clinics and waiting rooms. Calm imagery, often local landscapes, that makes a clinical space feel less clinical.
- Break rooms and training rooms. Graphics for staff that reinforce the brand inside the company, not just for visitors.
Artwork that prints sharp at mural size
Most mural problems start with the artwork. A photo that looks crisp on a phone can fall apart when it is printed 12 feet wide. Three things decide sharpness, plus one legal check:
- Resolution at final size. Murals are viewed from farther away than a brochure, so they do not need brochure-level resolution, but they still need enough pixels. As a rough guide, an image should be at least 100 pixels per inch at final size for walls viewed up close, less for walls only seen from across a room.
- Vector artwork. Logos, patterns, and text built as vectors scale to any size with no loss. When the original file is low resolution, we rebuild these elements as vectors.
- Image rights. Photos pulled from the internet usually cannot be used legally on a wall. We use your own photography, licensed stock images, or commissioned photography.
- Safe areas. Faces, text, and logos are kept away from outlets, switches, door frames, and panel seams.
Our guide to sign materials covers the substrate side; we review the artwork side at proof stage, before anything prints.
Choosing the right wall film
Wall films are not the same as vehicle vinyl or window film. They are built to bond to painted drywall and, in removable versions, to release later without pulling paint. The choice comes down to three questions:
| Question | If yes | If no |
|---|---|---|
| Is the space leased, or will the graphic change in a few years? | Removable wall film | Permanent wall film |
| Is the wall heavily textured, brick, or block? | Film made for textured surfaces, installed with heat | Standard wall film |
| Will people, carts, or equipment touch the wall? | Scuff-resistant laminate | Standard matte laminate |
Matte laminates are the default for most walls because they cut glare from overhead lights and windows. Dry-erase laminates turn a mural into a usable whiteboard in conference and training rooms.
Wall prep, seams, and installation
A mural is printed in vertical panels and installed one panel at a time, with the image matched across each seam. The steps that make it look painted on:
- Wall check. Fresh paint needs to cure before film goes on, and industry guidance commonly calls for about 30 days of cure time. Dents, nail holes, and texture changes show through film, so they are patched and sanded first.
- Measuring every obstacle. Outlets, switches, thermostats, fire alarm devices, and trim are measured so the design avoids them and the panels can be cut cleanly around them.
- Panel layout. Seams are planned to fall where they will be least noticeable, and the image is matched across each overlap.
- Installation. Panels go on from a level line, are smoothed to remove air, trimmed at the ceiling, floor, and corners, and cut around each device.
Most single walls install in a day. Large hallways or multiple walls may be scheduled over several days or after hours if the space is in use.
Removable murals in leased spaces
Most Colorado Springs businesses lease their space, and most leases require walls to be returned in their original condition. Removable wall films are designed for that: they are made to hold for years and release from sound painted drywall when removed within the manufacturer's stated window. Removal goes best when the wall was cured and in good condition at install.
Check your lease language on alterations and wall finishes before the design is final. Murals visible from a shared corridor or through a storefront window may need landlord approval, and anything visible from outside the building may be treated as a sign. Our window graphics page covers the rules for glass facing the street.
How a wall mural project runs
- Site visitWe measure the wall, photograph it, check paint and texture, and note every outlet, switch, and device.
- Estimate and depositYou receive a written estimate by square footage and film type. Once the estimate is approved and the deposit is received, our team will begin the design and proofing process.
- Design and proofThe mural is laid out at scale on your wall photo, with seam positions and resolution checked.
- Printing and laminationPanels are printed, laminated, and labeled in install order.
- InstallationOur team installs panel by panel, trims around devices, and completes a final walkthrough.
Is a wall mural right for your space?
A printed wall is one of the highest-impact interior projects, but it is not right for every wall.
A good fit when
- A large blank wall is visible to clients, customers, or staff every day
- You have strong photography or brand artwork, or want help creating it
- The wall is smooth or lightly textured painted drywall
- You want something you can update later without repainting
Look elsewhere when
- The wall is freshly painted and the opening date does not allow cure time
- The wall has moisture problems or peeling paint that need repair first
- The only artwork available is low-resolution images with no rights to use them
The Short Version
- Wall murals are large printed graphics on wall-rated films, applied in matched panels.
- Artwork needs enough resolution at final size; logos and text should be vector.
- Removable films suit leased spaces; textured walls need special films and heat.
- Fresh paint needs to cure, commonly about 30 days, before film goes on.
- Matte laminate cuts glare; dry-erase laminate turns a mural into a whiteboard.
- Most single walls take one to two weeks from approved estimate and deposit and install in a day.

Common questions
Wall Murals FAQ
What is a printed wall mural?
A printed wall mural is a large-format graphic printed on adhesive wall film and applied to an interior wall in matched panels. It can show photography, illustration, patterns, or text, and covers a full wall or a feature area.
How long does a wall mural take?
Most single-wall murals take one to two weeks from approved estimate and deposit, and most single walls install in one day.
Can a wall mural be removed later?
Yes, a wall mural can be removed when it is printed on removable wall film and taken down within the manufacturer's stated window. Removable films are designed to release from sound, cured painted drywall without pulling paint.
What resolution does a photo need for a wall mural?
As a rough guide, a photo should be at least 100 pixels per inch at final printed size for walls viewed up close, and less for walls only seen from across a room. APG checks resolution at proof stage.
Can you put a mural on a textured wall?
Yes, a mural can go on a textured wall using film made for textured surfaces and a heat-assisted install. Smooth and lightly textured drywall takes standard wall film, while heavy texture, brick, and block need textured-wall film.
How soon after painting can a mural go up?
Fresh paint needs to cure before a wall mural goes up. Industry guidance commonly calls for about 30 days of cure time, and APG follows the specific film's instructions.
Do interior wall murals need a permit in Colorado Springs?
Interior murals not visible from outside generally do not need a sign permit. Graphics visible from outside the building may be treated as signs and should be reviewed first.
Can I use a photo I found online?
Usually not. Most images found online are copyrighted, so they cannot be printed on a wall without permission. APG uses your own photography, licensed stock images, or commissioned photography for murals.
