Vehicle Wrap Repair & Panel Replacement in Colorado Springs
One damaged door, fender, or rear panel replaced from the original templates and print files, color matched to the rest of the wrap, after a fender bender, a hail storm, or a scrape at a job site.
APG: Advanced Printing and Graphics provides vehicle wrap repair in Colorado Springs by replacing damaged panels rather than patching them. For wraps APG installed, we keep the vehicle templates and print files on record, so a single door, fender, bumper, or rear panel can be reprinted and installed to line up with the rest of the design. New film is color matched to the existing wrap, though a panel on a wrap that has aged several years may look slightly brighter at first. Repairs after body work or hail often go through insurance. Wraps installed by other companies are reviewed case by case.

- Repair the panel or replace the wrap?
Most wrap damage covers one or two panels. Replacing those panels, not the whole wrap, is usually the right fix.
A wrap is installed in panels, which is one of its biggest advantages over paint when damage happens. A scraped door, a torn bumper, or a fender replaced after a collision does not mean a new wrap for the whole vehicle. It means a new panel, printed from the same file, installed on the repaired part, and blended into the wrap around it.
This page covers how panel replacement works, why files on record matter, how color matching works across print runs and aged film, when a repair blends and when it shows, and how insurance claims usually go after an accident or hail. For full removal and replacement, see our wrap removal page.

How panel replacement works
Wraps are printed and installed in sections that follow the vehicle's body panels. When one section is damaged, it is replaced on its own.
- Assess the damage. We look at the damaged area and the condition of the film around it, and confirm any body work is finished.
- Pull the files. For APG installs, the original template and print file for that vehicle are on record.
- Reprint the section. The affected panel is reprinted on the same or equivalent film and laminate, with extra material for overlap at the seams.
- Remove the damaged film. The old film on that panel is removed with heat, and adhesive is cleaned.
- Install and blend. The new panel is installed indoors, lined up with the design on the neighboring panels, and seams are placed where body lines hide them.
Vinyl applied in the cold does not conform and does not adhere correctly, so repairs are installed in a heated bay year round. Once the replacement panel is printed, many single panel repairs can be installed in one visit.
Why templates and files on record matter
A panel replacement is only as good as the file it is printed from. Without the original file, the repair becomes a recreation, and a recreation may not line up perfectly.
- APG installs. We keep the vehicle template and final print file for every wrap we install. That means a replacement panel prints at the same scale, in the same position, with the same artwork.
- Fleet consistency. For fleets, the same files let us repair any vehicle in the fleet and keep every unit looking the same. Our fleet wraps page covers templates for fleets.
- Body changes. If a replacement part differs from the original, such as a different bumper or a door from another trim level, we adjust the file to fit.
When a new wrap goes on, ask each provider to identify the film series and laminate included in the estimate. Knowing the film makes a later repair much easier to match.
Color matching across print runs and aged film
A new panel is printed to match the original file, but the wrap on the vehicle has been in the sun since the day it went on. That gap is the main challenge in most repairs.
- Print run variation. The same file on the same film can vary slightly between print runs. We print a test strip and compare it to the vehicle before printing the full panel when color matters.
- Aged film. At 6,035 feet, UV is stronger than at sea level, and printed wraps slowly shift and fade, reds and dark colors first. A new panel on a wrap that is several years old will usually look slightly brighter at first.
- Adjusting the print. On older wraps, we can adjust the replacement panel's color to sit closer to the aged film around it.
- Solid colors. Color change film and cut vinyl are matched by film color, and a film color can be discontinued. If that happens, we discuss the closest match or a design change.

When a repair blends and when it shows
Most panel repairs blend well. A few situations make a repair easier to spot, and it helps to know which before deciding between a repair and a new wrap.
| Repairs usually blend when | Repairs are more likely to show when |
|---|---|
| The wrap is less than two or three years old | The wrap is near the end of its life and faded |
| The panel ends at a natural body line or door gap | A large photo or gradient runs across several panels |
| The design uses strong solid colors | The damaged panel sits between two panels in direct sunlight |
| The original files and film are known | The original files are missing and the design has to be recreated |
When a wrap is near the end of its life, replacing several panels can cost more than it is worth. If so, we will tell you, and a new wrap may be the better investment. For cast vinyl with laminate, expect five to seven years on a hand-washed vehicle in Colorado Springs, longer if garaged.
Insurance claims after accidents and hail
Wraps damaged in a collision or hail storm are often covered, but how a claim goes depends on your policy and whether the wrap was declared.
- Declare the wrap. Many policies treat a wrap as custom equipment, which may need to be listed on the policy to be covered. Check with your agent before damage happens.
- Get the written estimate. We provide a written estimate for the wrap repair that you or the body repair facility can submit with the claim.
- Body work first. The panel is repaired and painted, if needed, before the new wrap section goes on. Fresh paint needs to cure before film is applied.
- Hail. Hail season in Colorado Springs runs roughly April through August. Paintless dent repair on a wrapped panel usually means the film on that panel is replaced as well.
Our guide to hail and your wrap covers policy types, deductibles, and documentation in more detail.
After a big hail storm, body repair facilities and wrap installers fill up fast. Get on the schedule early and send photos right away, even if body work will take weeks.
Repairing wraps installed by other companies
Wraps installed by other companies are reviewed case by case. Repairs on APG installs are planned around our own templates and files on record; for other wraps, the outcome depends on what information is available.
- Original files. If you or the original installer can provide the print file, a matching panel is much more likely.
- Film identification. Knowing the film series and laminate helps match texture, finish, and color.
- Condition of the rest. If the surrounding wrap is failing, a repair will not last and may not be worth doing.
Send photos of the damage and the whole vehicle along with any information about the original wrap, and our team will review it. A professionally installed wrap generally does not damage sound factory paint and can help protect it from UV exposure and normal road wear. However, repainted panels, failing clear coat, rust, and existing paint damage may be affected during installation or removal. We inspect the vehicle and discuss any concerns before production.

Repair the panel or replace the wrap?
Panel repair makes sense for most localized damage. A few situations point toward a new wrap.
A good fit when
- Damage is limited to one or two panels
- APG installed the wrap and the files are on record
- The wrap is less than two or three years old
- An insurance claim is covering collision or hail damage
Look elsewhere when
- The wrap is faded, cracking, or near the end of its life
- Damage covers most of the vehicle after a major hail storm
- The original files and film are unknown and the design is a large photo across many panels
The Short Version

Common questions
Vehicle Wrap Repair FAQ
Can you replace just one panel of a vehicle wrap?
Yes. Wraps are installed in sections that follow the body panels, so a single door, fender, bumper, or rear panel can be reprinted and replaced. APG provides vehicle wrap repair in Colorado Springs this way.
Will a replacement panel match the rest of my wrap?
A new panel is printed from the same file and color matched to the existing wrap. On a wrap that has aged several years in Colorado sun, the new panel may look slightly brighter at first.
Do you keep files for wraps you installed?
Yes. APG keeps the vehicle templates and print files for every wrap we install, so a replacement panel prints at the same scale and position as the original.
Can you repair a wrap another company installed?
Possibly. Wraps installed by other companies are reviewed case by case. The original print file and the film series make a matching repair much more likely.
Does insurance cover wrap repair after an accident?
Often, depending on your policy. Many policies treat a wrap as custom equipment that may need to be declared to be covered. APG provides a written estimate you can submit with the claim.
What happens to my wrap after hail?
Hail can dent panels and damage the film. If paintless dent repair is done on a wrapped panel, the film on that panel is usually replaced afterward.
How long does a wrap repair take?
Once the replacement panel is printed, many single panel wrap repairs can be installed in one visit. Any body work and paint must be finished, and fresh paint cured, first.
When should I replace the whole wrap instead of repairing it?
When the wrap is faded, cracking, or near the end of its life, or when damage covers most of the vehicle, a new wrap is usually the better investment than several repairs.
Can you patch a small tear instead of replacing the panel?
Small edge lifts can sometimes be re-adhered, but a torn printed graphic is usually best fixed by replacing that panel so the design lines up and the repair lasts.
